Enhance Passenger Comfort

Ensure the comfort of your family & friends by maintaining a cool and pleasant drive. Regularly servicing your car's air conditioning system, including timely regassing can help keep the airflow efficient and the temperature comfortable. This ensures that your passengers enjoy a cool and refreshing atmosphere by filtering out pollutants, airborne bacteria and pollen, making the overall driving experience more enjoyable.

If you experience a decline in the usual levels of cold air from your car's air conditioning, it's likely time for a recharge of gas.

Our fully qualified technicians are equipped to perform a regas, during which they will remove all old refrigerant from your air conditioning system and replace it with the precise quantity of fresh refrigerant.

Air Con Service

Air Conditioning … Explained

The refrigerant gas in the air conditioning system tends to deplete over time, especially when the system is not used regularly.

To uphold optimal performance, car manufacturers advise scheduling an air conditioning service every two years.

This routine service guarantees that your air conditioning system operates at its peak, offering not just a comfortable temperature but also improved air quality inside your vehicle.

Service My Vehicle air conditioning technicians are qualified in Safe Handling of Refrigerants Certificate, enabling them to proficiently inspect your system for leaks.

They also conduct thorough checks on pressure levels, gas quantity, and refrigerant levels, identifying any need for topping up.

This ensures your air conditioning system performs optimally, providing you with the best cooling performance.

How Much Does Air Conditioning Regas Cost?

The cost of an air conditioning recharge depends on the refrigerant type.

Cars use either R134A or R1234YF gas. You can find the correct gas in your vehicle's handbook or ask our engineers.

The recharge cost for R134A is £69.95, while R1234YF is £119.95 when booked online.

Note that you cannot switch between these gases as they have different recharge ports.

How Do I Know Which Air Con Gas I Require?

R134A gas is common in vehicles manufactured before 2014. All vehicles with air conditioning manufactured since 1st January 2017 include the new R1234YF air con gas which is more environmentally friendly.

Since this date, manufacturers are no longer allowed to use the older R134A air con gas in a bid to reduce global warming as the old gas is believed to be more damaging to the environment.

R1234YF gas was phased in by vehicle manufacturers over time so vehicles rolling off the production line between 2014 and 2016 could require either gas.

Do You Regas Electric Vehicles?

Like petrol and diesel cars, electric and hybrid vehicles need air conditioning recharges when the refrigerant gas runs low.

Regular maintenance is crucial for electric cars because the AC system also cools essential components like batteries and motors. This cooling helps with efficient charging and prolongs battery life.

Therefore, AC maintenance is vital for performance and safety, not just comfort. Most electric vehicles use the newer R1234YF refrigerant gas.

What Does An Air Conditioning Regas Do?

If your car isn't blowing out cool air, a regas might be the fix you need.

During a regas, the old refrigerant gas is swapped out, and the system gets a recharge, including fresh lubricant, all following the manufacturer's guidelines. It's like a refreshing boost to make your air run cold again!

Fun fact: Cars made from 2017 onward are required to use a new type of refrigerant.

While there are DIY kits out there, going with a specialist is usually a better bet. DIY kits might not save you much, and there's a risk of making mistakes that could end up costing you or even pose safety issues (ouch, freeze burns!).

Plus, if there are any other problems with your air con, a pro can sort them out for you, ensuring you stay cool and safe on the road.

What Happens When We Regas Your Air Conditioning?

Service My Vehicle air con specialists will inspect for any leaks in the pipework or joints.

If necessary, our team will expertly remove all old refrigerant from your air conditioning system, replacing it with the precise quantity of fresh refrigerant.

During this process, you'll receive advice on any other components that might need replacement to optimise the overall operation and health of your vehicle.

Once the new refrigerant is in place, our skilled technicians will conduct thorough testing to ensure its correct running and make any necessary adjustments for premium operation.

I Have A Bad Smell Coming From My Car Vents, Can You Help?

If an unpleasant odour is wafting from your car vents, don't worry – we're here to help! Foul smells in your vehicle can be caused by a variety of factors, such as accumulated dust, mould, or bacterial growth in the air conditioning system.

Our expert team can conduct a thorough inspection and cleaning of the ventilation system, eliminating any sources of odour and ensuring you breathe in fresh, clean air during your drives. To tackle the foul smell emanating from your car vents, it's a good idea to consider changing the pollen filter and using an odour bomb. The pollen filter plays a crucial role in trapping dust, pollen, and other particles, and a dirty or clogged filter can contribute to unpleasant odours.

Additionally, using an odour bomb is an effective way to neutralise and eliminate lingering smells, leaving your car with a fresh and clean scent. Don't let the bad smell linger – reach out to us, and we'll have your car smelling fresh and inviting in no time!

What Does A Pollen Filter Do And When Should I Change It?

A pollen filter, also known as a cabin air filter, keeps the air inside your vehicle clean by filtering out dust, pollen, and other air particles. This ensures a healthier environment for you, your passengers and especially older & younger passengers (kids/children). Over time, the filter can become clogged, reducing its effectiveness.

To maintain optimal air quality and HVAC efficiency, change the pollen filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles or annually. If you drive in dusty or high-traffic areas, consider more frequent replacements. Regular pollen filter changes help keep your car's interior air fresh and free from allergens. Ideal for those who suffer from hay fever, airborne bacteria and sensitive sinuses.

Also increases driver's alertness and safety.
